This is Chet.
(Picture: Chet, a sweet faced dog, lying on the front porch of his
house.)
Chet is a lazy good-for-nothing dog. At
least, that's what his family always says.
(Picture: Family of four walking up to Chet. Looks of disappointment.)
Every day they find him sleeping on the
front porch. "Chet! You're a lazy good-for-nothing dog! All
you do is lie around all day!"
(Picture: Family of four yelling at Chet)
Chet just sits there and takes it.
(Picture: Chet looking so sad.)
But Chet really isn't a lazy good-for-nothing
dog. He's actually quite busy
when his family's not around.
(Picture: Chet looks around. He hears a cry for help.)
Chet once saved a child who fell into the
river.
(Picture: Chet diving head first in a rushing river to save a
child. Child's parents on the river bank are unaware.)
The parents couldn't believe their daughter's
story.
(Picture: Child in parent's arms, explaining what happened. Chet
slipping off, not wanting any attention.)
Chet battled an alligator that had wandered
near an orphanage.
(Picture: Chet goes one on one with alligator near an orphanage.)
The children couldn't figure out how the
alligator got tied up, hanging upside down.
(Picture: Children from orphanage find alligator hog tied and
hanging by a tree.)
One day a school bus was heading toward
a broken bridge damaged by a storm.
(Picture: Chet welding the cracked, steel girder under a bridge.
A school bus is heading their way.)
Chet fixed it just in time. But nobody
knew what he had done.
(Picture: School bus crosses safely. Chet breathes a sigh of relief
under a girder.)
Chet pushed a famous movie star out of
the way of a speeding truck.
(Picture: Chet pushing a movie star out of the way of a truck.)
But the papers cut him out of the picture.
(Picture: Chet watches TV. He's cut out of the camera angle.)
Chet even discovered a cure for a terrible
disease.
(Picture: Chet, alone, with a scientist coat on, discovering something.)
His notes were found by another scientist
who took all the credit.
(Picture: A human scientist holds up a beaker. Cameras take his
pictures. Chet hides behind a table, looking on
frustrated.)
Chet climbed Mount Everest becoming the
first dog to ever do so.
(Picture: Chet at the top of Mount Everest. His camera takes a
timer shot.)
Unfortunately the film in the camera froze.
(Picture: Chet examines the damaged photos on the computer.)
Chet went to the White House and talked
to the President about Animal Rights.
(Picture: Chet in the Oval Office with the President.)
But it was a top secret meeting and the
President could not tell any one.
(Picture: Chet sneaks out a side door giving the President the
"Shhh" sign. President winks.)
Once NASA even hired him to test a new
space rocket that flew around the earth.
(Picture: Chet in a modern-designed space rocket heading into
space.)
But the monkey who went to Mars grabbed
all the headlines.
(Picture: Newspaper headline blares news of "Monkey Goes
to Mars!" Smaller, smaller article: "Dog Tests New Rocket.")
And yet every time his owners returned
home, they found Chet right where they left him-lying on the front
porch. And every time they walked by they said the same thing
to him, "Chet, you're a lazy good-for-nothing dog."
(Picture: Chet on the front porch with the family looking at him,
shaking their heads.)
So next time you call your dog lazy and
good for nothing, just remember
the reason he's lying around
may be because
(Picture: Family walks away from Chet who just takes the abuse.)
he's had a very busy day.
(Picture: Chet close up, asleep, dreaming of all the things he
did.)
