GENESIS 5:1-5
Reading:
This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created
man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male
and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called
them "man." When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a
son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.
After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and
daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.
(Genesis 5:1-5)
Time: Approximately 4000 BC
Characters: God, Adam, Seth
Place: Outside the garden
What's Happening: The genealogy of Adam.
Prayer
Dear God,
Did Adam lay on his deathbed after living 930 years and regret
what he had done? Was Adam aware that he introduced sin into this
world? While we don't blame him for our condition, since we all
make the same sin choice as he did, did he feel a sense of shame
or displeasure with his disobedience? God I pray that as my deathbed
approaches, if I'm given the opportunity to meditate on my life,
that I have no regrets. No should-of regrets. No could-of regrets.
No would-of regrets. I pray that I make every decision aware that
someday I will look back at it. It may seem like the right thing
now, but will it later, when it's all said and done?
ADDITIONAL PRAYER
"I should of, could of, would of
"
"I regret the year of

"I thank you for the year of

GENESIS 5:6-27
Reading:
When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of
Lamech. 26 And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah
lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. 27 Altogether,
Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. (Genesis 5:25-27)
Time: Approximately 4000 BC
Characters: Methuselah
Place: Outside the garden
What's Happening: The genealogy of Adam.
Prayer
Dear God,
Lord, I know many of us want to live forever. Seventy or so is
the average, but I know it will go by quickly. The question really
is, what would I do with my life if I lived eight or nine hundred
years? How many of those days would be wasted? Would I wisely
use the days you have given me or I throw them away on selfish
pursuits? If I were given forever, what would I do with forever?
As Methuselah laid on his deathbed, 969 years old, the oldest
man to ever live, did he say, "I should have done more. I
could have done more." The real question is not how long
we live, but how well we live. If I lived 930 years, would they
be quality, obedient, love-filled years? Would at least half of
them be? God I pray that I start new with this year. I pray that
this is the first year of many years that I live for you. You
set quantity of years, but I determine the quality of those years.
ADDITIONAL PRAYER
"If I had a year to live, I would
"
"I want to say on my deathbed
"
"Please start this year different by helping me

GENESIS 5:28-32
Reading:
When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. 29 He named
him Noah [c] and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and
painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed."
(Genesis 5:28-29)
Time: Approximately 4000 BC
Characters: Lamech, Noah
Place: Outside the garden
What's Happening: The genealogy of Adam.
Prayer
Dear God,
God, so many babies are born in a day. So many new lives and new
mouths to feed. Every one of them has potential to do something
great and make a difference in their world. Lamech saw potential
in his son Noah to save all of humanity from destruction. Thankfully
Noah accepted his destiny. As I look at my life, am I doing all
I need to do to fulfill my destiny? In my neighborhood, school,
work, could I be saving people from a flood of sin and offering
them salvation? Am I pulling them onboard? My life should never
be described with the words "overbearing" or "painful",
but "comfort" and "rescuing." I must live
according to the potential you've given me.
ADDITIONAL PRAYER
"I want my name to mean
"
"I think my destiny is to
"
"I want people to look back on my life and say
